India's Best Place For Christmas Celebrations

Christmas and New Year’s is sure to be on fire a hole in the pocket, especially if you plan to go to popular tourist places. While we agree Goa, Shimla, Manali among others are great vacation spots to visit this winter, we can’t deny that these places are more expensive during the cold season. Goa is flock by tourists from all over the world because of its parties and music fests like Sunburn and Supersonic.
Twinkling lights strung crossways houses and markets, trees decorated with luminous decorations, charming delivery scenes and bakeries full with the delicious fragrance of cakes and other sweet treats--these are the best places to celebrate Christmas in India. Some of the places to spend Christmas are:-

Daman and Diu - Daman and Diu is the best alternative to Goa for a Christmas destination as this place also has a considerable amount of Portuguese influence to boast. While travelers can witness several cultural shows and famous Portuguese dance forms such as Corrindinho, the vibrant lamps look beautiful under the night sky. One must not miss out on the mass in churches like Saint Paul's Church, Se Cathedral and Church of Our Lady of Rosary.

Shillong - One of the least visited places during winter, Shillong can offer a Christmas experience like no other. Not being touristy, you can experience Christmas like a local -- a sizeable amount of Christian population here ensures pompous celebrations. While the streets, houses and churches are beautifully decorated with colorful lights, some of the churches have gospels sung by the local music bands. Try staying with a local family in a home stay and have meals with them if you are looking to experience the traditional cuisine prepared during this time.

Manali - If you are willing to spend a white Christmas being in India, Manali is the place you must head to. Thanks to the December snowfall, you can enjoy skiing, make snowmen, or even enjoy snowball fights. The nights look charming due to a contrast created by the white snow on one hand and a mélange of colors created by the shimmering of Christmas lights on the other. Try and book hotels in the upper reaches of Manali to avoid the tourist rush.
